We try to deliver plastic-free fruit and vegetable boxes to your front door and love all the meals we make with these ingredients

Plastic-free fruit and vegetable company Boxed Fresh is here to stop that. They ship directly to your front door and all of their boxes come in different sizes and prices to suit your needs.
We decided to try one of the couple’s fruit and veg boxes for £15 to see if it lived up to its reputation.
The box was due to arrive on Friday, you don’t have time for it, so just guessing when it will arrive, mine came around 11.30am, but working from home doesn’t matter what time of day it arrives.
As soon as it came, I couldn’t wait to open the box to see what goodies I had inside this week and start planning them into my food list for next week.
When I opened the box, a fresh, earthy smell hit me, and I knew right away that everything was going to be fresh, crispy, and taste so much better than supermarket fruit and veggies.
Since contracting Covid-19, I’ve found my senses of smell and taste have increased – and when they finally come back, it’s nice to smell these fresh scents.
The box is filled with potatoes, butternut squash, celery, onions, mushrooms, peppers, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, apples, bananas, oranges, grapes and pears.
I can see right away a- I’m definitely getting value for money here b- I’d happily plan these into our weekly food list.
The first meal I decided was a staple of spaghetti bolognese, which I would use with onions, however, I decided to add celery and mushrooms and use fresh tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes.
Wow what a difference to make with these fresh ingredients.I must say that substituting fresh tomatoes for canned tomatoes is definitely something I will do in the future.
It’s lighter and has a more vibrant flavor, and the celery also adds a nice crunch to it.
I don’t even think it has anything to do with my partner who then eats leftovers for the next two days at work.
Butternut squash isn’t something I’m overly fond of, however, I decided to combine it nicely with carrots, onions, peppers, and a few other ingredients in the fridge and cupboards to make a big soup.
There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of soup on a cold day, and after home cleaning on a Saturday morning, it fills me up.
When the vegetables were bubbling in the pan, the kitchen was full of smells and I can tell my stomach was rumbling more than once.
The soup tasted fresh and each ingredient came together nicely for a lovely fresh and aromatic soup.
Saturday is usually a treat day at our house, so for this event we decided to make waffles and top them with some boxed fruit.
When I cut and peeled the orange, the plate was full of juice, and so was my couch after Josh decided to throw it anywhere.
The grapes are crunchy and sweet and full of flavour, I’m very picky about grapes and if they weren’t firm I wouldn’t eat them – these fit my criteria perfectly.
As for the bananas, they were just right, not overripe, and you could tell they would last for days, unlike the supermarket ones that were browned by the time you brought them home.
The potatoes are very dirty. You can see that they are picked directly from the ground before they are peeled and put in a box, which is relatively fresh.
I can’t tell you if fruits and veggies last long because we didn’t give it a chance, but as far as I know, they definitely have a long shelf life.
If you visit boxedfreshveg.co.uk you can see all the different types of boxes they make, as long as there are extras.
